A Dandy pays close attention to physical appearance, garments, and a community coffee shop with character. P and Antigua Coffee have all of the above.

Character: Farabundo Marti

Character: P

Garments: simple white V-neck with rolled-up sleeves, sleek gray cuffed slacks, and paper boy hat.

Classic maroon leather wingtips.

There was a time when Los Angeles was 90 degrees and clothes really got in the way of life. Midst the heat, P still kept his style.

Rolled-up cut-off denim shorts, and no socks for airy feet.

Being a Texas native helps maintain your cool in the hottest of summers.

And with that much heat, how can you keep the light red plaids out of the fun?

P lives in sunny Los Angeles. On a hot summer day, light basic clothes and cool garden shade go hand in hand.

When clothes are minimal, details enhance personal style: pop-of-color-red shoes, buttoned-up-collar, rolled-up sleeves and…tattoos!

And of course, the company of good friends makes a hot summer day fun.

P had a semi-formal event to attend. He decked out a vest and fancy wingtip shoes for the right amount of formality.

Formal yet playful with mixed prints. Close-up of a tasteful light pinstripe and gingham pattern combination.

Deep maroon leather belt and wingtip shoes add a nice contrast.

Close up of fancy wingtip shoes.

A wholesome smile and a dash of attitude go a long way.

This is the inaugural post of The SelfMade Man.
Welcome to our humble digs!
The SelfMade Man is a fashion blog inspired by trans and queer masculine people and published by an admiring part-time femme, part-time tomboy. As a follower of fashion blogs of all kinds, I noticed that the world of fashion blogging lacked representations of the fly, innovative, and carefully tailored styles of trans/queer masculine people in my communities. Style emanates from the core — a practice of constantly and lovingly creating ourselves. The SelfMade Man is about the dashing styles of trans/queer masculinities, about crafting spaces to build community, and about sharing tips on fashion manifested from the inside out.
I will begin by posting pictures of the fashionable SelfMade Men I love and admire. As the blog evolves, I would love to include your pictures.
I hope you enjoy what you see, and that it inspires you to manifest your own sense of style from the inside out.
